Yep, I've been a bad blogger...you can always tell when I get really busy because the blog is the first thing to be left by the wayside!
So let's see, what's happened in the last two months...
A week after getting back from my brother's graduation in Fort Benning, we left for Conner's first trip to Disney. We all had a BLAST! It was a tiring week but a lot of fun. Conner LOVED all the characters, the rides, the food, and all the family time we had all week. The kid was a non-stop ball of energy. Kiet and I were wiped at the end of the night but that little wind-up toy just kept running!
So then after joining the real world again and leaving the Magical Kingdom behind, I became fully immersed in busy season. September - November are some of the busiest months of the year for photographers. Lots of senior sessions, family holiday sessions, military sessions, and baby sessions.
Word has really been spreading through the military about Operation Love Reunited sessions, so I've been getting quite a few calls on those. And with my little brother now in Afghanistan, photographing an OPLove session just means so much more to me.
I'm still staying active with my Celebrating Adoption organization and I was recently asked by Lutheran Family Services of Virginia to photograph the placement pictures of their Richmond children. And while I won't be posting pictures of the children I photograph on my blog, LFSVA will be using my photos on their website. It just gives me warm fuzzies to be helping out in my own little way. :-)
Over the summer, I became interested in a new organization, started by a fellow photographer. Its name is Pictures of Hope. Pictures of Hope is a charitable organization of professional photographers who provide complimentary, documentary-style, photography sessions to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and their families. I wasn't sure if I would be a good fit for this organization until I saw a slideshow of a POH session that my friend and fellow photographer Tisha did. Watching that slideshow made me realize I really wanted to do it. So I applied and two months later, I had the approval to be part of POH. I have my first session tomorrow and I am super excited, but also a bit nervous since it's unfamiliar and outside my usual comfort zone. But I'm sure I'll do great and am up for the challenge!
Now for some pics from recent sessions! I'll post each session in a new post for simplicity's sake. ;-)
